Umbilical Hernia Surgery
A para-umbilical hernia is a protrusion of the intestines or gut into the abdomen through a weak point of the muscles or ligaments near the navel. The hernia can lead to discomfort when fatty tissue gets trapped.
Near the navel a lump can be seen or felt and you might feel a twinge when you are physically active, cough or press. The lump can vary in size and does not necessarily cause any pain.
An umbilical hernia can only be cured through surgery. Physical therapy does not help. On the contrary, it might even lead to intenstines being squeezed in. Wearing a truss or a brace will not help either.
Should you be in pain and/or have detected a lump near your navel, please contact doctor Deckstein. He will provide you with a tailor-made treatment.
